What I Learned from My Foster Daughter

I learned that love really is not enough.  I learned that race is not about skin color, it is about culture.  And I re-learned that same old lesson that's been bangin' me on the noggin since consciousness arrived:  each person alive must take responsibility for herself and do the work to deal with her own demons. All anyone else can do is support her.
